Paula Dias, from UFP’s Communication Office, visited Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania, for the 4th Erasmus Staff Exchange Week hosted by the LLP Erasmus Office at that University.
The visit took place from the 6th to 10th May, and had the objective of widening and strengthening cooperation, exchanging know-how, good experiences and practices between partner institutions.
On the 15th of May, University Fernando Pessoa hosted a visit of 15 students from the University of British Columbia (Canada), in the scope of the “Geographies of Migration and Settlement” program oriented by Prof. José Carlos Teixeira.
The visit to UFP followed a week spent in the Azores Island, in a program that lasts a total of 3 weeks, and included a series of lectures which took place at University Fernando Pessoa:
- “The Impact of Gentrification in Toronto’s Little Portugal”. (Prof. José CarlosTeixeira, University of British Columbia)
- “Portuguese Emigration to Venezuela and South Africa; A Comparative Analysis” (Prof. Victor DaRosa, University of Ottawa)
- “Beyond the geography of words and migrations” (Prof. Isabel Patim, Universidade Fernando Pessoa)
- “My Story, my words” (Sheliza Chandani, Dentistry student at UFP)
Prof. Sofia Gaio, of UFP’s Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, is visiting the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein, in Austria, for a teaching assignment under the LLP-Erasmus programme.
This visit aims to further the partnership between the two institutions and to explore the contact with colleagues and students, and includes a series of lectures by Prof. Sofia Gaio on Communication and Marketing.

UFP is organizing an Erasmus Staff Week for Librarians from 18-22 March 2013, with the participation of librarians from other institutions of higher education in Europe. The programme includes several workshops, as well as visits to UFP and points of interest in the city of Porto.

Three students of Communication Sciences have developed a web blog to promote their study programme at UFP. In a growing internationalisation effort, these students have made it available in 5 different languages: Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Spanish. O curso é totalmente gratuito (financiado pela UE) – os alunos seleccionados serão alojados em quartos da Universidade; os voos de avião (do Porto até Pécs) são pagos pelo programa; os almoços são gratuitos, não havendo taxa de inscrição.
